About Us

Mmatshepo Organization is a Non-profit Organization that is located in Meadowlands, Soweto. We aim to instill, restore and nurture hope within individuals in the community. Mmatshepo is a Sotho word that means 'Mother of Hope'.

Mmatshepo Organization was founded in 2019 by a group of passionate individuals who recognized the need for a holistic approach to youth development in Soweto and surrounding areas. Our founders believe that by combining sports, arts, and culture, we can create a unique and powerful platform for young people to express themselves, learn new skills, and develop their characters and talents.

As a community based organization, our approach is to engage with the community on socio-cultural levels and dialogues to promote peace and social cohesion. We believe that every human being deserves to live a meaningful life. What we consider meaningful depends on our personal values and gives us strength to cope with adversaries, including traumatic experiences and difficult life transitions.

Our Programs

We offer a range of programs and activities designed to cater to the diverse interests and needs of our members. These include:

  • Sports: Soccer, basketball, netball, and other sports programs that promote physical activity, teamwork, and healthy competition.

  • Arts: Music, dance, drama, and visual arts programs that encourage creativity, self-expression, and imagination.

  • Culture: Traditional dance, music, and crafts programs that celebrate our rich cultural heritage and promote cross-cultural understanding.

Our Values

At Mmatshepo Organization, we are guided by the following values:

  • Empowerment: We believe in empowering young people to take control of their lives, make informed decisions, and reach their full potential.

  • Inclusion: We strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome, valued, and respected.

  • Creativity: We encourage creativity, innovation, and experimentation in all our programs and activities.

  • Community: We are committed to building strong, supportive communities where young people can thrive and grow.
